New Style JSA Rates 2026/27

New Style JSA is contribution-based, not means-tested — savings and a partner's income or earnings do not affect it. It is taxable, paid every 2 weeks, and reduced pound-for-pound by any personal or occupational pension income above £50/week, and by part-time earnings. Confirmed under the annual Social Security Benefits Up-rating Order applying from 7 April 2026.

Rates were frozen for four consecutive years from 2016/17 to 2019/20 under the benefits freeze policy, before annual CPI uprating resumed in 2020/21. The 2023/24 jump of over 10% reflects the exceptionally high September 2022 CPI reading; the 2026/27 increase of 3.8% reflects the September 2025 CPI figure.
