Find Your Local Council Tax Rates
Council tax bands and charges vary significantly across the UK depending on your local authority. Search for your city or council below to see the exact 2026/27 valuation bands and use our local calculator. All 32 London boroughs are grouped separately, since they share a common Greater London Authority precept structure that no other region uses.
Before you search: council tax works differently by nation and region
England and Scotland use bands based on 1991 property values; Wales revalued in 2003 and adds a ninth band. Scotland adds Scottish Water and sewerage charges directly onto the council tax bill, which no English or Welsh authority does. Northern Ireland does not use council tax at all - it charges domestic rates calculated from your property's individual capital value, not a fixed band. See our Belfast rates guide for how that system actually works.
London is kept separate below rather than mixed alphabetically, because every one of its 32 boroughs shares an identical Greater London Authority precept on top of its own borough element - comparing London bills means comparing borough elements, not full totals, which is a different exercise from comparing two ordinary cities.
London Boroughs
All 32 boroughs plus the City of London, listed alphabetically. Every borough shares the same GLA precept - only the borough's own element differs.
